As Lois and Doug continue their retirement adventure, a few changes have come. This includes reducing some of the vegetables, cutting back from the 6 farmer’s markets a week that we used to attend, now concentrating on 4 crops and helping both of our children’s farming adventures, Derek and Brook with Duluth Flower Farm and Jesse and Allison with Hoffbauer Tree Farm.  We continue to support and help them both in any way we can.

The four crops that Lois and I are still produce are maple syrup in the spring, peony cut flower production in early summer, a large  pumpkin pick-your-own patch in September, and of course Christmas trees and decorations in late fall, combining with Hoffbauer Tree Farm to sell our combined products under Midway Trees LLC. We will continue at Duluth Farmer’s Market, especially during Christmas season.  We are now supplementing spring and summer sales with our roadside stand at end of our driveway 3361 Lindahl Rd.   At the stand we will have bedding plants and flowers in spring and some fruits and vegetables. It will be open Fridays and Saturdays from Mother’s day through Labor day. Stop and check it out and don’t forget to pick up some pure Maple syrup.

Famer Doug Maple Syrup

Our maple syrup operation is nearing 1000 taps, and we generally go from mid-March through mid-April. Available for Sale mid March through Christmas season.  And along with maple syrup Lois makes Maple Candy and Maple Jelly.  Those are both a “must try”.

We usually have a peony field day in early June with tours and plants for sale.   But you can always pick up a peony bouquet at the farm stand from June 1 through the end of July.  If you desire peonies for a wedding or other plans, contact Duluth Flower farm.

Since we usually have a frost by the first of October, our pick your own pumpkins are the last 3 weekends in September only.  This is a great family event with large (40#) pumpkins and lots of other fall decorations. We have large, small, white, pie, warty and flat pumpkins along with squash and other fall vegetables and decorations.

Cut your own Christmas trees are Thanksgiving weekend.   We will continue to market our Christmas trees and decorations at Duluth Farmer’s Market, in the parking lot of West Duluth Super One, and at home. Make Farmer Doug your one stop shop for fall and Christmas decorations. Landscape trees are available in spring and fall from Jesse at Hoffbauer Tree Farm.
